Wed, 11 April 2007 So, what the heck is a blog anyway? Well, they're informative, interesting, often entertaining, pretty darned addictive and very accessible. Basically, a blog is like a web-based journal, or diary. Anyone can write a blog about their life, happenings in their family, their trek across Africa, or anything else that they feel might be of interest to others. In addition to individuals, companies are using blogs to inform consumers about the development of new products and services. Tonight, we'll talk about blogs, how to find them, how to read them and ways to organize multiple blogs for easier and more efficient reading. So, if you're a blog reader with a blog you think might be of interest, are curious about blogging, are currently a blog reader and want to learn how to more efficiently access multiple blogs, or just want to learn something new, come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM, tonight for this week's edition of the Assistive Technology Show! Oh, one more thing, it wouldn't be fun to do a show on blogging without myself having a blog to share, so I've decided to start a new assistive technology blog. In my new blog, I'll be talking about the accessibility of hardware, software and of course web sites. I'm hoping that it will be an informative resource and the basis for discussions to come. Wed, 4 April 2007 Tonight, on the Assistive Technology Show, we'll go on an Easter egg hunt -- a digital Easter egg hunt! So, what the heck is a idgital Easter egg? Often, programmers add undocumented and hidden features to their programs that can be activated by entering a special code, or by doing something specific. These hidden features often add functionality to a program, are a program within a program, or do something that's just plain cool. And of course, these hidden aspects of a program are called Easter eggs. Tonight, I'll demonstrate some Easter eggs found in common programs and show you how to access them. So, bring any Easter eggs you may know about, or questions you may have and come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM, EST for tonight's edition of the Assistive Technology Show! Comments[0] |

Wed, 28 February 2007 Tonight, on the Assistive Technology Show, we'll discuss a topic that many folks ask me about -- routers, dsl/cable modems, IP addresses and what the heck does it all mean anyway? As one of my clients so eloquently put it, "I have all this crap on my desk and have no clue what the hell any of it does." I as non technical a way as possible, I'll explain the relationship between these devices, so you can better understand that tangle of wires that may have sprouted up since you got broadband. In addition, I'm here to answer any other At-related, or technology-related questions you may have, so come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM for this week's edition of the Assistive Technology Show! Wed, 31 January 2007 Tonight, on the Assistive Technology Show, we'll be talking about digital audio and various programs you can use to create it. Do you have a CD collection you'd like to convert to digital audio thereby giving you fast access to your music from your PC? Are you confused with the many existing audio formats out there, MP3, egg, aac, aacplus, mp4, etc...? What about playing all that music after you've spent the time digitizing it? As always, we'll also be taking your questions about assistive technology, or technology in general, so come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM, EST tonight for this week's edition of the Assistive Technology Show! Wed, 24 January 2007 Come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM, EST for this evening's edition of the Assistive Technology Show! I don't know about you, but I often get Emails withannoying greater than signs proceeding each line and as a screen reader user, I find it incredibly frustrating. Sadly, many good jokes and probably other emails have found their way to my deleted items folder simply because I didn't want to hear the greater than greater than greater than message proceeding each line of text. OK, I know that speech settings can be altered to stop the reading of all that ridiculous punctuation, but don't you feel guilty forwarding the Email on knowing that the recipient will have to deal with it? Tonight, I'll be discussing a freeware program I've found that helps eliminate all those pesky greater than signs making Emails much more readable. Of course your questions about adaptive technology, or technology in general are always welcome, so come join me, between 7:00-9:00 PM, EST tonight for this week's edition of the Assistive Technology Show!
